Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the action thriller Den of Thieves 2: Pantera  written and directed by Christian Gudegast and starring Gerard Butler, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Evin Ahmad, Swen Temmel, Meadow Williams and Salvatore Esposito. The film’s original music is composed by Kevin Matley (The Family PlanConcrete Cowboy, Arthur the KingPath of the PantherDaniel). Lionsgate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening semi-wide in around 800 theaters following an awards-qualifying release in December is the drama The Last Showgirl directed by Gia Coppola and starring Pamela Anderson, Billie Lourd, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, Dave Bautista and Jamie Lee Curtis. Andrew Wyatt (Barbie) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as an original song written (with Wyatt & Lykke Li) and performed by Miley Cryus last month. Opening in select U.S. theaters today following an awards-qualifying release in December is the drama Hard Truths written and directed by Mike Leigh and starring Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Michele Austin, David Webber, Ani Nelson, Tuwaine Barrett, Sophia Brown and Jonathan Livingstone. The film’s original music composed by Gary Yershon (Mr. TurnerHappy-Go-Lucky, Another Year, Brighton, 23 Walks, Trial and Retribution). Caldera Records has announced a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score (and music from other Mike Leigh films and stage plays) and a digital version of the Hard Truths score is expected to be available in the coming days. Also opening in New York today before opening in other markets in the coming weeks is the Australian documentary Every Little Thing directed by Sally Aitken about author and wildlife rehabber Terry Masear who is the longest-practicing hummingbird rehabilitation expert in the U.S. Caitlin Yeo (Bad BehaviourDanger Close, Last Days of the Space Age, Playing with Sharks: The Valerie Taylor Story, The Rocket, The Butterfly Tree) has composed the film’s original music. Strange Loop Recordings has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening in select theaters today before being available to stream next Thursday, January 16 on MasterClass is the documentary Diane Warren: Relentless directed by Bess Kargman about he Honorary Academy Award- and Grammy Award-winning songwriter.  The film’s original score is composed by Lesley Barber (Manchester by the SeaYou Can Count On Me, Late NightMansfield Park, The Moth Diaries . No word on a soundtrack release. Opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD today is the French post-apocalyptic thriller Survive (Survivre) directed by Frédéric Jardin and starring Émilie Dequenne and Andreas Pietschmann. Nicolas Errèra (Hidden ManRaging Fire, Shaolin, The Extraordinary Journey of the FakirAdoringMountain Cry, The Serpent’s Path) has composed the film’s original music. ENKA has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last June when the movie opened in France. Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the Australian horror thriller Birdeater written and directed by Jim Weir & Jack Clark and starring Mackenzie Fearnley, Shabana Azeez, Ben Hunter, Clementine Anderson, Jack Bannister, Harley Wilson, Alfie Gledhill and Carlone McQuade. The film’s original music is composed by Andreas Dominguez. The composer has released a soundtrack album featuring his score last September (visit Amazon or any other major digital music services to stream/download). The movie, which follows a bride-to-be who gets invited to join her own fiancé’s bachelor party on a remote property in the Australian outback that turns into chaos, opened in Australian theaters last summer and is being released stateside by Dark Sky Films.
