Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, A Quiet Place, Scream, Logan, Ford v. Ferrari, The Hurt Locker, The Wolverine) is scoring the upcoming documentary Deaf President Now! The film is directed by Nyle DiMarco (Deaf U) & Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth, Waiting for Superman) and recounts the eight days of historic protests held at Gallaudet University in 1988, after the school’s board of trustees appointed a hearing president over several very qualified Deaf candidates. The movie features new interviews with the five key figures of the movement, including the Gallaudet four – Jerry Covell, Tim Rarus, Bridgetta Bourne-Firl & Greg Hlibok – alongside I. King Jordan, as well as archival and scripted elements. Guggenheim & DiMarco are also producing the Concordia Studio production with Michael Harte (Memories of a Murderer: The Nilsen Tapes), Jonathan King (Stillwater, When They See Us) and Amanda Rohlke (Downfall: The Case Against Boeing). Deaf President Now! is expected to be released in select theaters and premiere on Apple TV+ in early 2025.
Beltrami also has the second season of Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers (co-scored with Miles Hankins) coming up. His other recent feature projects include Richard Gray’s The Unholy Trinity (co-scored with Tristan Beltrami), which premiered at this year’s Zurich Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date.
