Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the spy action comedy Argylle directed by Matthew Vaughn and starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Henry Cavill, John Cena, Dua Lipa, Bryan Cranston and Catherine O’Hara. The film’s original score is composed by Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout/Dead Reckoning, Top Gun: Maverick, Black Widow, His Dark Materials). Platoon has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, an original song performed by Ariana DeBose, Boy George & Nile Rodgers (also available separately as a digital single), as well as an additional song today. Opening semi-wide in around 700 theaters is the comedy Scrambled written and directed by Leah McKendrick and starring McKendrick herself, Ego Nwodim, Andrew Santino, Adam Rodriguez, Clancy Brown and Laura Cerón. Brittany Allen (What Keeps You Alive, Z, Torn Hearts) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which follows a woman faced with bleak romantic prospects who begins to feel like the clock is ticking and decides to freeze her eggs, premiered at last year’s SXSW Film Festival and is being released by Lionsgate.
Opening in select U.S. theaters today is the Danish historical drama The Promised Land (Bastarden) co-written and directed by Nikolaj Arcel and starring Mads Mikkelsen, Amanda Collin, Melina Hagberg and Gustav Lindh. The film’s original music is composed by Dan Romer (Luca, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Maniac, Beasts of No Nation, Station Eleven, Maniac, The Good Doctor, Superman & Lois). Drawing Number One has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Music producer, songwriter and DJ Jakwob (aka James Jacob) has composed the film’s original music. Boom Ting Recordings has released a soundtrack album featuring the artist’s first film score last Friday. The film’s original music is composed by Olivier Cussac (Terra Willy, Pil, Epic Tails). Music Box Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last August when the movie opened overseas.
