Dan Romer (Luca, Station Eleven, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Beasts of No Nation, Maniac) has teamed up with Osei Essed (How to Survive a Pandemic, Katrina Babies, Finders Keepers) to score the new Hulu original series Saint X. The show is developed by Leila Gerstein (Hart of Dixie, Cursed) based on Alexis Schaitkin’s novel of the same name and stars Alycia Debnam-Carey, Josh Bonzie, West Duchovny, Bre Francis, Jayden Elijah, Kenlee Anaya Townsend, Michael Park and Betsy Brandt. The 8-part drama is told via multiple timelines and explores how a young woman’s mysterious death during a Caribbean vacation creates a ripple effect that eventually pulls her surviving sister into a dangerous pursuit of the truth. Gerstein is also executive producing the ABC Signature production with Stephen Williams (Watchmen, Chevalier), Anonymous Content’s David Levine & Zack Hayden, DreamCrew Entertainment’s Aubrey Graham aka Drake, Adel “Future” Nur & Jason Shrier (Chillin Island), as well as Alexis Schaitkin and Steve Pearlman (Once Upon a Time, V). Dee Rees (Mudbound, Bessie) directed and executive produced the first episode. Saint X will premiere next Wednesday, April 26 on exclusively on Hulu.
Romer also continues to score The CW’s Superman & Lois, which currently airs every Tuesday night in its third season, as well as ABC’s The Good Doctor, which has just been renewed for a seventh season. His recent feature projects include Jake Johnson’s Self Reliance and Imran J. Khan’s Mustache, which both premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and are currently awaiting a release date.
