Composer Tom Howe (Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Early Man, Daisy Jones and the Six, A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, The Amazing Maurice) is reuniting with director Ross Venokur on the upcoming animated feature Rally Road Racers. The film is written and directed by Venokur and features the voices of J.K. Simmons, Jimmy O’Yang, Chloe Bennet, Sharon Horgan, Lisa Lu, Catherine Tate and John Cleese. The movie tells the story of a rookie race car driver who gets the opportunity to compete against the reigning champion of the rally car circuit and – with help from a former driver-turned-mechanic – must overcome rival racers, treacherous terrain, and unexpected obstacles to prove he has what it takes to be the next great racer. Deepak Nayar (Bend It Like Beckham, Sense8) is producing the project for Kintop Pictures, alongside John H. Williams (Shrek, Valiant) for Vanguard Animation, as well as Nik Bower (Tell It to the Bees, Final Portrait). Howe has previously scored Venokur’s last feature, Charming. Rally Road Racers will be released in theaters nationwide on May 12, 2023 by Viva Pictures.
Howe’s other recent feature projects also include Nida Manzoor’s Polite Society (to be released in theaters on April 28) and Bill Holderman’s Book Club: The Next Chapter (opening in theaters on May 12).
