Composer Koji Endo is reteaming with director on the upcoming action thriller Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo. The film starring Shun Oguri, Lily James, Shotaro Mamiya, Liv Morgan, Hiroshi Tachi & Jun Kunimura follows a disgraced Tokyo detective who spirals into a world of corruption, addiction, and violence as he becomes entangled in a twister investigation involving an enigmatic FBI agent, a vengeful ex-Yakuza, and a missing daughter of a powerful American family. Daisuke Tengan wrote the screenplay. Jeremy Thomas (The Last Emperor, Naked Lunch), Sam Pressman (Dead Man’s Wire, Daliland), Naoaki Kitajima (Lupin III: The First, Kingdom) and Misako Saka are producing the project. Endo has previously collaborated with Miike on such features as Audition, Gozu, One Missed Call, 13 Assassins, First LoveBlade of the Immortal & The Great Yokai War: Guardians. Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo is premiering tonight at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival and will be released in Japanese theaters on October 23. Neon will distribute the movie in the U.S.
