The post-rock band Explosions in the Sky is reuniting with director Peter Berg (Hancock, Deepwater Horizon) on the upcoming Netflix original film The Mosquito Bowl. The movie is based on the book of the same title by Buzz Bissinger and stars Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, Tom Francis, Dominic Bogartt and Brent Comer. The sports drama is set in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor and tells the story of four US college football stars who enlist in the Marines, discovering the strength of brotherhood and the cost of war. Berg also co-wrote the screenplay with Mark L. Smith (The Revenant, Twisters). He is also producing the project for Film 44, alongside Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13) for Imagine Entertainment, as well as Alex Gayner. Explosions in the Sky have previously collaborated with Berg on the features  Friday Night LightsLone Survivor and the Netflix series American Primeval. The Mosquito Bowl will be released in select theaters on October 30, 2026 before premiering on November 25 on Netflix.
