Writer/producer Silka Louisa (Shining Girls) has revealed in a recent interview with Collider that Leopold Ross (Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Shogun, The Book of Eli, Death Note, Triple 9, Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy, Dr. Death, Dreamin’ Wild) is scoring the upcoming Prime Video limited series Blade Runner 2099. The show is based on characters created by Philip K. Dick and stars Michelle Yeoh, Hunter Schafer, Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey Daniel Rigby, Amy Lennox, Johnny Harris, Sheila Atim and Matthew Needham. The sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 classic (scored by Vangelis) and Denis Villeneuve’s 2017 sequel Blade Runner 2049 (scored by Hans Zimmer & Benjamin Wallfisch) takes place fifty years after the events of the second movie and follows a fugitive who takes on one last identity: a Blade Runner and – forced to partner with a Replicant days from dying – hunts down a runaway hiding a truth that could collapse their fragile city. Luisa serves as the project’s showrunner and is also producing with Scott, David W. Zucker & Clayton Krueger (Alien: Earth, Dope Thief) for Scott Free Productions, Alcon Entertainment’s Andrew Kosove & Broderick Johnson (The Blind Side, The Expanse), Ben Roberts, Richard Sharkey (Warrior, Shantaram), Michael Green (Logan, American Gods), Cynthia Yorkin, Frank Giustra (Rules Don’t Apply), Tim Gamble and Isa Dick Hackett (The Man in the High Castle, Electric Dreams), as well as Jonathan van Tulleken (Lucky, The Changeling) who also directed the first two episodes. Blade Runner 2099 will premiere on November 25, 2026 exclusively on Prime Video.
Ross is also expected to return to score the third season of Apple TV’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
