Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the slasher sequel Scream 7 co-written and directed by Kevin Williamson and starring Neve Campbell, Isabel May, Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Michelle Randolph, Matthew Lillard, Anna Camp, David Arquette, Asa Germann, Sam Rechner, Mark Consuelos, Jimmy Tatro, Celeste O’Connor, Tim Simons and Joel McHale. The film’s original score is composed by Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, A Quiet Place, Logan, Ford v. Ferrari, The Wolverine, The Hurt Locker, Hellboy) who previously composed the music for the first four installments. No score album has been announced yet. Several songs from the movie have been released as digital singles over the last two weeks. Opening semi-wide in a few hundred AMC theaters this weekend is the comedy K-Pops! co-written and directed by Anderson .Paak and starring the singer/songwriter himself, Soul Rasheed, Jonnie “Dumbfoundead” Park, Jee Young Han, and Yvette Nicole Brown. Emily Bear (Moana 2, The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical, Dog Gone, Our Little Secret) has composed the film’s original score. A soundtrack album is expected to be released in the coming weeks. A first song from the soundtrack (but not featured/credited in the movie), Keychain by aespa & Anderson .Paak), was released as a digital single today. Opening in New York this weekend before expanding to more markets in the coming weeks is the comedy Idiotka written and directed by Nastasya Popov and starring Anna Baryshnikov, Camila Mendes, Benito Skinner, Owen Thiele, Julia Fox, Mark Ivanir, Saweetie, Nerses Stamos, Galina Jovovich and Ilia Volok. The film’s original music is composed by Ian Hultquist (The Walking Dead: Dead City, Dickinson, Assassination Nation, One of Us Is Lying, Rosaline, Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, Good Girls, Night Teeth). Little Twigs Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening in select theaters is the documentary Space Cowboy directed by Marah Strauch & Bryce Leavitt about Joe Jennings, a pioneer of skydiving cinematography and creating iconic moments in film and TV. Will Blair & Brooke Blair (Rebel Ridge, Green Room, Blue Ruin, I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, The Informer, Hold the Dark, Black Christmas, Sweet Virginia) have composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. Also opening in limited release is the sports drama Undercard co-written and directed by Tamika Miller and starring Wanda Sykes, Bentley Green, Roselyn Sánchez, Xavier Mills, Berto Colón, William Stanford Davis and Estella Kahiha. The film’s original music is composed by EmmoLei Sankofa (The Other Black Girl, Step Up, Three Ways, Launchpad: Project CC) . The composer has released a soundtrack album featuring her score today. Also opening in select theaters this weekend is the documentary Ghost Elephants directed by Werner Herzog who follows explorers and trackers as they search for evidence in Angola of the largest, most elusive land mammals alive today. Ernst Reijseger (Cave of the Forgotten Dreams, Salt and Fire, The White Diamond, The White Blue Yonder,Nomad: In the Footsteps of Bruce Chatwin, My Son, My Son, What Have You Done) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced yet. The movie premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival and has been picked up by National Geographic Films. Following its theatrical run, the documentary will debut on National Geographic, Hulu and Disney+ on March 7.
