Quartet Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1995 documentary The Celluloid Closet directed by Rob Epstein & Jeffrey Friedman about Hollywood’s depiction of gays and lesbians on the silver screen from the silent era of the 1920’s to the present day. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award nominee Carter Burwell (Carol, The Banshees of Inisherin, Fargo, True Grit, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, The Blind Side, Twilight,Anomalisa). Also included is k.d. lang’s cover of Secret Love, as well as songs performed by Marilyn Mornoe, Doris Day, Marlene Dietrich, Roberta Flack, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas and Jane Russell. The soundtrack, which is being released to coincide with the movie’s 30th Anniversary, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out audio clips and learn more about the release. The Celluloid Closet is now available on VOD and DVD.
