Composer Grégoire Hetzel (Incendies, SummertimeThe Midwife, The Innocent) is reuniting with director Arnaud Desplechin (Esther KhanJimmy P.) on the upcoming French romantic drama Two Pianos (Deux Pianos). The film starring François Civil, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Charlotte Rampling & Hippolyte Girardot follows a pianist who returns to France after a long exile and reunites with his mentor to prepare a concert, when he encounters a child who looks just like him. Desplechin also co-wrote the screenplay with Kamen Velkovsky. Pascal Caucheteux (Jackie, Emilia Pérez) is producing the project for Why Not Productions. Hetzel has previously scored numerous features for Desplechin, including Ismael’s Ghosts, Oh, Mercy! , My Golden Days, A Christmas Tale, Deception & Brother and Sister. Two Pianos will premiere next month at the Toronto International Film Festival and is scheduled to open in French theaters on October 15. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.

Hetzel’s other recent projects include Grégory Magne’s The Musicians, which opened in French theaters in May and has just been released in the U.S. earlier this month by Outsider Pictures.
