Nicholas Britell (Succession, Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk, Don’t Look Up, Cruella, The Big Short, Vice) has been tapped to score the upcoming HBO original film Mountainhead. The movie is written and directed by Jesse Armstrong and stars Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, Cory Michael Smith, Ramy Youssef, Hadley Robinson, Daniel Oreskes, Andy Daly, Ali Kinkade, David Thompson, Ami MacKenzie and Ava Kostia. The drama revolves around a group of billionaire friends who get together against the backdrop of a rolling international crisis. Armstrong is also executive producing the project with Frank Rich (Veep, White House Plumbers), Lucy Prebble (I Hate Suzie, Secret Diary of a Call Girl), Jon Brown (The Franchise, Cuban Fury), Tony Roche (Avenue 5 ), Will Tracy (The Regime), Mark Mylod (The Menu, Shameless) and Jill Footlick (Gray Matters, The Night Listener). Britell has previously collaborated with Armstrong (and several of the producers) on HBO’s Succession, for which he received four Emmy Award nominations and won the award for his main titles theme. Mountainhead will premiere on May 31 on HBO and will also be available to stream on Max.
Britell has also contributed music to the second season of Disney+’s Andor, which is premiering today, with the episodes he worked on premiering next week.
