Earlier this month, John Lunn (The Last KingdomThe White Queen, Belgravia, JamestownThe White Princess) has recorded his score for the upcoming drama sequel Downton Abbey 3. The film is directed by Simon Curtis (Woman in Gold, My Week With Marilyn) and stars Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery, Paul Giamatti, Laura Carmichael, Joely Richardson,Jim Carter, Phyllis Logan, Alessandro Nivola, Robert James-Collier, Joanne Froggatt, Allen Leech, Penelope Wilton, Simon Russell Beale, Lesley Nicol, Michael Fox, Arty Froushan, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Kevin Doyle, Sophie McShera, Harry Hadden-Paton, Douglas Reith and Dominic West. Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes (Gosford Park, The Gilded Age) wrote the screenplay. He is also producing the Carnival Films production with Gareth Neame (Rome, The Day of the Jackal) and Liz Trubridge (Lockerbie: A Search for Truth). Lunn has previously scored all episodes of the Downton Abbey TV series, as as well as 2019’s first feature and the 2022 Curtis-directed sequel Downton Abbey: A New Era. Downton Abbey 3 is set to be released in theaters nationwide on September 12, 2025 by Focus Features.

Lunn also continues to score BBC’s Shetland and ITV’s Grantchester, which will both return for their tenth seasons.
