Matt Bowen (The Boys, Gen V, The Boys Presents: Diabolical) has recently been scoring the upcoming comedy Summer of 69. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actress Jillian Bell and stars Chloe Fineman, Sam Morelos, Nicole Byer, Matt Cornett, Liza Koshy, Natalie Morales, Fernando Carsa, Alex Moffat, Paula Pell and Charlie Day. The movie revolves around an awkward high school senior who hires an exotic dancer to help seduce her longtime crush before graduation, leading to unexpected friendship and lessons in acceptance, and self-confidence and adulthood. Bell also co-wrote the screenplay with Liz Nico & Jules Byrne and is producing the American High production with Jeremy Garelick (The Wedding Ringer, Murder Mystery 2), Will Phelps (Big Time Adolescence, Plan B), Molle DeBartolo (Prom Dates), Breanna Bell-Singer, Matt Skiena (Juror #2), Adam Goodman and Lucas Carter. Bowen has previously scored American High’s features The Binge and It’s a Wonderful Binge and also collaborated with Garelick on the Netflix limited series Best.Worst.Weekend.Ever.. Summer of 69 will premiere this March at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival and will debut later this year on Hulu.
Bowen is also expected to return to co-score the fifth season of Prime Video’s The Boys and the second season of its spin-off Gen V.
