Composer Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest HotelHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech, The Queen, Philomena, Godzilla) is reteaming with director Guillermo del Toro on the upcoming Netflix original film Frankenstein. The movie is written and directed by del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Pacific Rim) and stars Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Lars Mikkelsen, Felix Kammerer, David Bradley, Charles Dance and Christoph Waltz. The gothic horror film is based on Mary Shelley’s classic tale of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in an experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation. Del Toro is also producing the project with J. Miles Dale (Mama, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark) and Scott Stuber (Ted, Central Intelligence). Desplat has previously collaborated with Del Toro on 2017’s The Shape of Water, for which he received his second Academy Award and the animated feature Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio. Frankenstein will premiere this November on Netflix.

Desplat’s other recent projects include William Goldenberg’s Unstoppable, which just premiered on Prime Video earlier this month, as well as Michel Hazanavicius’  animated movie The Most Precious of Cargoes, which opened in French theaters last fall and is currently awaiting a domestic release date.
