English folk-pop artist Paris Paloma has recorded an original song for the upcoming anime feature The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. The track, entitled The Rider, written by Phoebe Gittins (who co-wrote the project’s screenplay with Arty Papageorgiou and Jeffrey Addiss & Will Matthews) & composer David Long and performed by Paloma, will be featured in the movie directed by Kenji Kamiyama and starring Brian Cox, Gaia Wise, Luke Pasqualino, Miranda Otto, Lorraine Ashbourne, Benjamin Wainwright, Yazdan Qafouri, Laurence Ubong Williams, Shaun Dooley, Jude Akuwudike, Michael Wildman, Bilal Hasna and Janine Duvitski. Stephen Gallagher has composed the score for the film, which is based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien and tells the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. Long (The Luminaries, Mystic, 6 Days) has previously co-written Misty Mountains for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (with Plan 9 Music) and the film’s end credits Song of the Lonely Mountain performed by Neil Finn. He also created musical sound design for Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy with Plan 9. The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will be released in theaters nationwide on December 13, 2024 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
