Varèse Sarabande and Craft Recordings have announced the first-ever vinyl release of the score to the 1998 fantasy comedy drama Pleasantville written and directed by Gary Ross and starring Tobey Maguire, Reese Witherspoon, Jeff Daniels, Joan Allen, William H. Macy, Don Knotts and J. T. Walsh. The 2-LP deluxe edition features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award winner Randy Newman (Toy StoryMonsters, Inc., The Princess and the Frog, A Bug’s LifeMarriage StoryAvalon, Cars) and will be available on Red, White and Blue swirl vinyl in North America, while the international edition is pressed on Translucent Tan vinyl. The soundtrack will be released on September 13 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out the track list. The 2-LP gatefold package includes a brand-new illustration by artist Sim Sim on the cover. The label has previously released a CD version of the deluxe edition score album featuring the same content last December and a digital version was released this past January. Pleasantville is now available on VODBlu-ray and DVD.
