Lucas Vidal (Fast & Furious 6, The Raven, The Quiet Ones, Palm Trees in the Snow, Welcome to Eden, The Cold Light of Day) has composed the original score for the upcoming Netflix original film The Deliverance. The movie is directed by Lee Daniels (The Butler, Precious) and stars Andra Day, Glenn Close, Mo’Nique, Demi Singleton, Miss Lawrence, Anthony B. Jenkins, Tasha Smith, Caleb McLaughlin, Omar Epps and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. The supernatural horror thriller follows a struggling single mother who moves her family into a new home for a fresh start, but soon finds herself locked in a battle for her life and the souls of her children when strange occurrences inside the home raise the suspicions of Child Protective Services. David Coggeshall (Orphan: First Kill, The Family Plan) and Elijah Bynum (Magazine Dreams, Hot Summer Nights) wrote the screenplay. Daniels is also producing the project with Tucker Tooley (Den of Thieves, Concrete Cowboy), Pamela Oas Williams (Star, The United States vs. Billie Holiday), Jackson Nguyen and Todd Crites. The Deliverance will be released in select theaters on August 16, 2024 before premiering on August 30 on Netflix.
Vidal’s other upcoming projects Apple TV+’s Women in Blue, which will premiere on July 31. He also continues to score Netflix’s Elite, which will return for its eighth and final season on July 26.
