Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Predator, Captain America: The First Avenger, Ready Player One, Cast Away, The Mummy Returns) has been tapped score the upcoming Netflix original film The Electric State. The movie is directed by Anthony & Joe Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, The Gray Man) and stars Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Stanley Tucci, Brian Cox and Jenny Slate. The sci-fi adventure set in an alternate future tells the story of a teenage girl who realizes that a strange but sweet robot who comes to her has actually been sent by her missing brother and sets out to find the brother in an imaginative world of humans mixing with robots all shapes and sizes. Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (The Chronicles of Narnia, Thor: The Dark World) wrote the screenplay based on Simon Stålenhag’s graphic novel of the same title. The Russo Brothers are also producing the AGBO production with Mike Larocca (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Extraction), Chris Castaldi (Damsel, Citadel) and Patrick Newall (Extraction II, Kate). Silvestri has previously collaborated with the directors on Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War & Endgame. Joe Russo confirmed the composer’s involvement in a recent interview with The Times at last month’s Sands Film Festival. The Electric State is currently in post-production and will premiere later this year on Netflix.
As previously reported, Silvestri also has Robert Zemeckis’ Here (to be released in select theaters on November 15, 2024 before expanding nationwide on November 27) coming up.
An admittedly interesting pick.
Couldn’t be less interested in an upcoming Russo Brothers flick even with that.
