Island Records will release a soundtrack album for the biographical drama Back to Black. The album features the songs from the movie by Amy Winehouse (including tracks from her albums Frank and Back to Black), as well as numerous tracks by artists (such as The Shangri-Las, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Minnie Riperton & Sarah Vaughan) that inspired the singer/songwriter. Also included is a new track by the movie’s composers Nick Cave & Warren Ellis: Song for Amy, sung by Cave. The soundtrack will be released in both standard and extended editions in digital, CD and vinyl formats on April 12 & May 17. Back to Black is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and stars Marisa Abela, Jack O’Connell, Juliet Cowan, Eddie Marsan and Lesley Manville. The movie charts Winehouse’s vibrant years living in London and her intense journey to fame. The drama will open in UK theaters on April 12, 2024 and will be released in the U.S. on May 17 by Focus Features.
