Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Darkest Hour, V for Vendetta, Anna Karenina, Paddington 2) is currently recording his score for the upcoming supernatural adventure comedy Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The film is directed by Gil Kenan (Monster House, City of Ember) and stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Celeste O’Connor, Patton Oswalt, Logan Kim, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd and Annie Potts. The movie follows the Spengler family who returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. Kenan also co-wrote the screenplay with Jason Reitman (Up in the Air, Juno) who helmed the franchise’s last installment, Ghostbusters: Afterlife (scored by Rob Simonsen). Reitman is also producing the project with Jason Blumenfeld. Marianelli is recording his score on the Barbra Streisand Scoring Stage in the newly named John Williams Music Building on the Sony Pictures Studios lot in Culver City. He has previously scored Kenan’s last feature, A Boy Called Christmas. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will be released in theaters nationwide on March 22, 2024 by Sony Pictures.
As previously reported, Marianelli also has LAIKA’s animated feature Wildwood coming up.
