Thomas Newman (American Beauty, 1917, The Shawshank Redemption, Finding Nemo, Wall-E, Elemental, Skyfall) has composed the original score for the new animated short War Is Over! Inspired by the Music of John & Yoko. The film directed by Pixar animator Dave Mullins (who previously helmed the Pixar short Lou) is inspired by John Lennon’s & Yoko Ono’s song Happy Xmas (War Is Over) and centers on a chess game played across enemy lines with the help of a heroic carrier pigeon. Ono also serves as executive producer and ElectroLeague CEO Brad Booker is producing the project. War Is Over! Inspired by the Music of John & Yoko has recently received an awards-qualifying theatrical release and is currently looking for distribution. (THR)
Newman’s other recent projects include Marc Forster’s White Bird, which is expected to be released in 2024 by Lionsgate.
