Johan Söderqvist (Let the Right One In, Kon-Tiki, After the Wedding, Battlefield V, Things We Lost in the Fire, In a Better World, The Last Vermeer) has been tapped to score the upcoming superhero movie Madame Web. The film is directed by SJ Clarkson (Mistresses, Toast) and stars Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Isabela Merced, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts and Adam Scott. The thriller based on the Marvel Comics centers on Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan with clairvoyant abilities as she is forced to confront revelations about her past and forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures. Clarkson also co-wrote the screenplay with Claire Parker based on a story by Kerem Sanga (The Violent Heart, First Girl I Loved). Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, The Meg, Deepwater Horizon) is producing the project. Söderqvist has previously collaborated with Clarkson on last year’s Netflix series Anatomy of a Scandal. Madame Web is scheduled to be released in theaters nationwide on February 14, 2024 by Sony Pictures.
Söderqvist’s other recent projects include Anders Walter’s historical drama Before It Ends, which opened in Danish theaters this past summer and is currently awaiting a domestic distribution deal.
