Chanda Dancy (Devotion, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, The Defeated, Aftershock) is scoring the upcoming Paramount+ original series Lawmen: Bass Reeves. The show is created by Chad Feehan (Beneath the Dark) and stars David Oyelowo, Lauren E. Banks, Forrest Goodluck, Demi Singleton, Barry Pepper, Donald Sutherland and Dennis Quaid. The western drama tells the untold story of the legendary titular lawman and follows his rise from enslavement to law enforcement as the first Black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi. Feehan is also executive producing the MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios production with Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, Sicario), David C. Glasser (George & Tammy, Tulsa King), David & Jessica Oyelowo, David Permut (Hacksaw Ridge, Face/Off), Christina Alexandra Voros (Kink), Bob Yari (The Illusionist, Hostage) and Ron Burkle & David Hutkin (Special Ops: Lioness, Waco: The Aftermath). Lawmen: Bass Reeves will premiere on November 5, 2023 on Paramount+.
