Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout & Dead Reckoning, Black Widow, His Dark Materials, Top Gun: Maverick, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves) has composed the original music for the upcoming Netflix documentary series Life on Our Planet. The show is narrated by Morgan Freeman and chronicles the ongoing rise and fall of lives on Earth, from the cataclysmic events that reshape our ecosystems to the creatures that survived along the way. The 8-parter was produced in partnership with Industrial Light & Magic and uses the latest technology and science to bring long extinct creatures back to life. Alastair Fothergill (Earth, Monkey Kingdom) & Keith Scholey (David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet, African Cats) are executive producing the project for Silverback Films, alongside Steven Spielberg, Darryl Frank & Justin Falvey (The Americans, The Haunting of Hill House) for Amblin Television. Life on Our Planet will premiere on October 25, 2023 on Netflix.
Balfe’s other upcoming projects include Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2 and Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle (to be released in theaters on February 2, 2024). He also recently scored the second season of Amazon’s The Wheel of Time.
