Composer collective Transcenders (Gossip Girl, Black-ish, Madam Secretary, Our Family Wedding, The Kings of Napa) have written the original score for the new Netflix original series Survival of the Thickest. The show is created by Michelle Buteau & Danielle Sanchez-Witzel (Up Here) based on Buteau’s book of essays and stars Buteau herself, Tone Bell, Tasha Smith, Garcelle Beauvais, Taylor Selé, Marouane Zotti, Anissa Felix and Liza Treyger. The romantic comedy drama revolves around a passionate stylist who – after a bad breakup – seizes the opportunity to start over in life and love while finding happiness on her own terms. Buteau & Sanchez-Witzel are also executive producing the project with Linda Mendoza (Harlem), A24’s Ravi Nandan (Euphoria, Ramy) and Alli Reich (Beef, ZIWE), as well as Mosaic’s Anne Hong. Survival of the Thickest will premiere next Thursday, July 13 on Netflix.
