Christopher Bear (of the indie rock band Grizzly Bear) (Past Lives, High Maintenance) is the composer of the upcoming MGM+ original film The Passenger. The movie is directed by Carter Smith (The Ruins, Jamie Marks Is Dead) and stars Kyle Gallner, Johnny Berchtold and Liza Weil. The horror thriller follows a man who is forced to face his fears and confront his troubled past when his coworker goes on a sudden and violent rampage leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. Jack Stanley (Lou) wrote the screenplay. Lauren Downey (Into the Dark), Chris McCumber (The Thing About Pam, Torn Hearts), Jeremy Gold (Sharp Objects, Hell on Wheels) and Jason Blum (Get Out, Halloween are executive producing the Blumhouse production. Bear has previously scored Smith’s last feature, Swallowed, which was released earlier this year. The Passenger will debut on Digital and on Demand on August 4, 2023 before premiering later this year on MGM+.
Bear’s other recent scoring projects include Kristian Mercado’s sci-fi romantic comedy If You Were the Last, which premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date.
