John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, The Bourne Identity, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Shrek, United 93, X-Men: The Last Stand, Happy Feet) is currently recording his score for Illumination Entertainment’s upcoming animated movie Migration. The film is directed by Benjamin Renner (Ernest & Celestine) and stars Kumail Nanjiani, Elizabeth Banks, Awkafina, Caspar Jennings, Keegan-Michael Key, Tresi Gazal, David Mitchell and Danny DeVito. The animated adventure follows a family of ducks who try to convince their overprotective father to embark on the vacation of a lifetime. Mike White (The White Lotus, Orange County) wrote the screenplay. Chris Meledandri (Despicable Me, Minions, Sing) is producing the project. Powell has previously scored Illumination’s 2012 feature Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. Migration is scheduled to be released in theaters nationwide on December 22, 2023 by Universal Pictures.
