Nicolas Becker (Sound of Metal, Earwig, Memory House) & Quentin Sirjacq (Brother, Made in China, I Feel Better) have provided the original music for the upcoming thriller Black Flies. The film is directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire and stars Sean Penn, Tye Sheridan, Katherine Waterston, Michael Pitt, Raquel Nave and Mike Tyson. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Shannon Burke novel and follows a young paramedic in New York who teams up with an experienced EMT and discovers the risks of a job that every day shakes his beliefs about life and death. Ryan King (The Tutor) and Ben Mac Brown wrote the screenplay. Penn & Sheridan are also producing the project with Warren Goz & Eric Gold (Copshop, The Marksman) for Sculptor Media, Christopher Kopp (Wounds) and Lucan Toh (Monsterland, iBoy), as well as Projected Picture Works’ John Ira Palmer and John Wildermuth. Becker has previously scored Sauvaire’s last feature, A Prayer Before Dawn. Black Flies will premiere this month at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and will be distributed in the U.S. by Open Road Films.
