Netflix and UCP announced today that rock band Anamanaguchi (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game) and Joseph Trapanese (Oblivion, Shadow and Bone, The Witcher, Straight Outta Compton, The Greatest Showman) will score an upcoming anime series based on Edgar Wright’s 2010 feature Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Anamanaguchi will also contribute original songs for the show, which will feature the voices of Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Satya Bhabha, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson, Aubrey Plaza, Alison Pill, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman, Johnny Simmons, Mark Webber, Mae Whitman and Ellen Wong who will all reprise their roles from the live-action film. Bryan Lee O’Malley (author and artist of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series) and BenDavid Grabinski (Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Happily) serve as the project’s executive producers, writers and showrunners. Wright is also executive producing the show with Nira Park (Baby Driver, Last Night in Soho), Marc Platt (La La Land, Mary Poppins Returns), Jared LeBoff (The Girl on the Train), Adam Siegel (2 Guns, Dear Evan Hansen) and Michael Bacall. Science SARU serves as the animation studio with executive producer Eunyoung Choi and director Abel Gongora. No premiere date has been announced yet for the Scott Pilgrim anime series.
As previously reported, Trapanese also has Brian Duffield’s feature No One Will Save You and the third season of Netflix’s The Witcher coming up.
