Singer/songwriter Perfume Genius (aka Michael Alden Hadreas) has contributed original music to the upcoming drama National Anthem. Nick Urata (Paddington, Little Miss Sunshine, Focus, Crazy, Stupid, Love., Ruby Sparks) has composed the original score for the film directed by Luke Gilford and starring Charlie Plummer, Eve Lindley, Rene Rosado, Mason Alexander Park and Robyn Lively. The movie revolves around a 21 year-old construction worker in New Mexico who joins a community of queer rodeo performers in search of their own version of the American dream. Gilford also wrote the screenplay with David Largman Murray and Kevin Best. Mickey Liddell (Jackie, The Grey) & Pete Shilaimon (Risen, Megan Leavey) are producing the LD Entertainment production with Kevin Garland, Gina Marcheschi and Jasmine Daghighian. National Anthem will premiere this month at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival.
Urata’s recent projects also include Fox’s Animal Control, which currently airs Thursday nights. The composer also has the animated feature Stitch Head coming up.
