Alexandre Desplat, Roeban Katz, Guillermo del Toro & Patrick McHale were honored with their first award Annie Award in Feature category for their music from the Netflix film Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio at tonight’s 50th Annie Awards ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Desplat composed the movie’s score and also wrote the songs with lyrics by del Toro, Katz & McHale. The official soundtrack album was released by Columbia Records. The other contenders in the category were Ludwig Göransson, Billie Eilish & Finneas O’Connell for Turning Red, Dan Wool for Mad God, Daniel Pemberton for The Bad Guys and Mark Mancina, Nell Benjamin & Laurence O’Keefe for The Sea Beast.
In the TV/Media category, Ego Plum, Dave Wasson & Cosmo Segurson won an Annie for their music from the episode Carn-Evil of the Netflix animated series The Cuphead Show!
