Volker Bertelmann has received his first BAFTA Award for his music for Edward Berger’s Netflix film All Quiet on the Western Freont in the Original Score category at today’s 2023 EE British Academy Film Awards ceremony in London. He has previously been BAFTA-nominated back in 2017 for his music from Garth Davis’ Lion (shared with Dustin O’Halloran). The composer is also nominated for an Academy Award for his All Quiet on the Western Front score. Check out his acceptance speech below. The other composers nominated in the category were Justin Hurwitz (Babylon), Carter Burwell (The Banshees of Inisherin), Son Lux (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Alexandre Desplat (Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio).
