Patrick Jonsson (The White Helmets, Black Earth Rising, Evelyn, Virunga, On Her Shoulders) has composed the original score for the upcoming horror thriller The Boogeyman. The film is directed by Rob Savage (Host, Dashcam) and stars Chris Messina, Sophie Thatcher, Vivien Lyra Blair, David Dastmalchian, Marin Ireland and Madison Hu. The movie is based on a short story by Stephen King and follows a 16-year old and her younger sister, still reeling from the death of their mother, who are targeted by a supernatural boogeyman after their father has an encounter with a desperate patient in their house. Scott Beck & Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place, 65) wrote the screenplay with Mark Heyman (Black Swan, The Skeleton Twins). 21 Laps Entertainment’s Shawn Levy (Free Guy, Night at the Museum), Dan Levine & Dan Cohen (Stranger Things, Shadow and Bone) are producing the 20th Century Studios production. The Boogeyman will premiere in 2023 on Hulu in the U.S., on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ in most other markets.
Jonsson’s other recent projects include the documentary Wildcat, which just opened in select theaters last week and will premiere this Friday, December 30 on Prime Video.
