Laura Karpman (Ms. Marvel, Set It Up, Paris Can Wait, Why We Hate) & Raphael Saadiq (Insecure, The After Party) are reuniting to co-score the new Netflix limited series From Scratch. The show is created by Attica & Tembi Locke and stars Zoe Saldaña, Eugenio Mastrandrea, Keith David, Danielle Deadwyler, Kellita Smith, Judith Scott, Lucia Sardo, Paride Benassai and Roberta Rigano. The romantic drama is based on Tembi Locke’s memoir of the same name and tells the story of an artist who finds romance with a chef in Italy and embarks on a life-changing journey of love, loss, resilience and hope across cultures and continents. Tembi & Attica Locke and Saldana are also executive producing the project with Reese Witherspoon & Lauren Neustadter (Little Fires Everywhere, The Morning Show),Richard Abate, Jermaine Johnson and Will Rowbotham (Blue Caprice, Olympic Dreams). Karpman & Saadiq have previously co-scored several shows and movies, including HBO’s Lovecraft Country, WGN America’s Underground, the features Black Nativity & Step and this year’s AMC drama 61st Street. From Scratch will premiere on October 21 on Netflix.
