Walt Disney Records will release a new soundtrack album for the 1992 animated classic Aladdin directed by John Musker & Ron Clements and starring Scott Weinger, Robin Williams, Linda Larkin, Jonathan Freeman, Frank Welker, Gilbert Gottfried & Douglas Seale. The Legacy Collection release coincides with the movie’s 30th anniversary and features the original songs from the film written by Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Enchanted, Tangled) and featuring lyrics by Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast) & Tim Rice (The Lion King, Jesus Christ Superstar), the remastered original score by Menken, as well as outtakes and alternate tracks. The 2-CD set is now available to order on the Disney Music Emporium website. 1. Marco Ludema says:

I kinda expected it, given the timeframe and resurrection of the Legacy Collection, but it’s welcomed nonetheless. I hope the mixing is better is this than Hunchback, though. The singing was very difficult to hear at times.

  2. Jeff says:

Just saw it was released on itunes. Huge bummer it doesn’t include the film version of A Whole New World, yet another release of the OST version. Odd for the legacy collection to have such a huge miss.

  3. Elias Mejia says:

Gilbert Gottfried’s Iago (from the House of Mouse episode, House of Magic)

    • Mike B says:

For what it’s worth, the intro to the film version of AWNW is actually included at the end of the track “Ali Comes Courting”. Still, it would have made more sense to have it segue into the beginning of the vocal like it does in the movie, and had the soundtrack version as a separate “alternate” track.
