Mark Orton (Nebraska, The Good Girl, 12 Mighty Orphans, The Last Shift, Love Hard, People Places Things) has composed the original score for the upcoming comedy drama Somewhere in Queens. The film marks the feature directorial debut of actor Ray Romano and stars Romano himself, Laurie Metcalf, Tony Lo Bianco, Jennifer Esposito, Sebastian Maniscalco, Jacob Ward, Sadie Stanley, Jon Manfrellotti and Dierdre Friel. The movie follows a father who secretly meddles in teen social dynamics to make sure his basketball star son continues playing well when the prospect of athletic scholarships becomes more likely. Romano also co-wrote the screenplay with Mark Stegemann. They are both also producing the project with Albert Berger & Ron Yerxa (Little Miss Sunshine, Little Children, Election). Orton has previously scored the Berger- & Yerxa-produced Academy Award-nominated drama Nebraska. Somewhere in Queens will premiere this month at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival.
Orton has also recently scored the documentary Leave No Trace directed by Irene Taylor and executive produced by Brian Grazer a& Ron Howard about the alleged cover-up by the Boy Scouts of America that resulted in over 82,000 men coming forward with allegations of sexual abuse. The movie will also debut this month at Tribeca before being released in select theaters and premiering on Hulu on June 16.
