Rick Smith & Karl Hyde (of the electronic music group Underworld) have composed the original score for the new FX limited series Pistol. The show is created by Craig Pearce (Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby), directed by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 28 Days Later…) and stars Toby Wallace, Anson Boon, Christian Lees, Louis Partridge, Jacob Slater, Sydney Chandler, Maisie Williams, Talulah Riley, Emma Appleton and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. The 6-part drama is based on Sex Pistols’ founding member and guitarist Steve Jones’ memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol and tells the story of a band of working-class kids with “no future,” who shook the boring, corrupt Establishment to its core, threatened to bring down the government and changed music and culture forever. Underworld also serve as the executive music producers of the project. Pearce, Boyle & Jones are also executive producing the FX production with Tracey Seaward (The Queen, Philomena), Gail Lyon (Stick It, Destination Wedding), Anita Camarata, Paul Lee (Mare of Easttown, Dickinson) and Hope Hartman. Smith has previously scored Boyle’s features Trance and T2: Trainspotting, while Underworld have contributed music to the director’s Sunshine. Pistol is premiering today exclusively on Hulu.
