Harry Escott (Shame, Hard Candy, Roadkill, Welcome to the Punch, The English Game) has composed the original music for the new BritBox limited series Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?. The show is directed and adapted by Hugh Laurie based on the Agatha Christie’s 1934 novel of the same title and stars Will Poulter, Lucy Boynton, Maeve Dermod, Conleth Hill, Miles Jupp, Amy Nuttall, Laurie himself, as well as Jim Broadbent and Emma Thompson. The 3-part murder mystery follows the local Vicar’s son and his whip-smart friend on their crime-solving adventure after they discover the crumpled body of a dying man. Laurie is also executive producing the Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited production with Emily Powers, Gina Cronk, Jonathan Karas, Damien Timmer (Poldark, Victoria) and Helen Ziegler (Endeavour, World on Fire) and James Prichard (The Pale Horse, The ABC Murders). Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? will premiere on April 14, 2022 on BritBox.
Escott’s other recent projects include Clio Barnard’s Ali & Ava, which opened in UK theaters last month and has been picked up by Greenwich Entertainment for a domestic release later this year.
