David Schwartz (Arrested Development, Northern Exposure, The Good Place, Veep, Lady Dynamite, Standing Up, Falling Down) has composed the original music for the upcoming documentary Lucy and Desi. The film is directed by Amy Poehler and centers on the remarkable personal and professional partnership between comedian Lucille Ball and husband Desi Arnaz (also explored in Aaron Sorkin’s narrative feature Being the Ricardos). Poehler is also producing Imagine Documentarties production with Michael Rosenberg, Justin Wilkes (Mars, Julia), Nigel Sinclair (End of Watch, The Way Bakc) and Jeanne Elfant Festa & Mark Monroe (Pavarotti, The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart). Lucy and Desi will premiere later this week at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival before premiering on March 4, 2022 on Amazon Prime. Both Poehler & Schwartz will participate at a virtual BMI: Score to Screen panel for the festival and discuss on what drew them to the film, how they collaborated to interweave Lucille and Desi’s professional and personal lives. Schwartz is also expected to return as co-composer of the second season of the Peacock series Rutherford Falls.
