Stephen Rennicks (Room, Normal People, Frank, The Little Stranger, What Richard Did, Rebellion) has been tapped to score the upcoming British comedy drama Good Luck to You, Leo Grande. The film is directed by Sophie Hyde (52 Tuesdays, Animals) and stars Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack. The movie follows a retired school teacher yearning for some adventure, human connection and good sex who devises a plan and hires the services of a young sex worker for a night of bliss. Comedian Katy Brand wrote the screenplay. Debbie Gray (Mrs. Lowry and Son, The More You Ignore Me) and Adrian Politowski (Mandy, Blithe Spirit) are producing the Cornerstone production. Good Luck to You, Leo Grande will premiere this month at the Sundance Film Festival and is set to be released in the UK later in 2022 by Lionsgate.
Also coming up for Rennicks is the Irish coming-of-age drama The Quiet Girl (An Cailín Ciúin) directed by Colm Bairéad and starring Catherine Clinch, Carrie Crowley and Andrew Bennett. The movie, which centers on a nine year-old girl from an overcrowded, dysfunctional family who is sent away to live with foster parents for the summer, will premiere at next year’s Berlin Film Festival.
