Over the last couple of days, John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, Iron Man 2, The Jungle Book) has been recording his score for the upcoming animated feature Luck. The film is directed by Peggy Holmes (Secret of the Wings, The Pirate Fairy) and features the voice talent of Jane Fonda and Whoopi Goldberg. The movie centers around the unluckiest girl in the world who – after stumbling upon the never-before-seen world of good and bad luck – must join together with magical creatures to uncover a force more powerful than even luck itself. Kiel Murray (Cars, Cars 3) wrote the screenplay. John Lasseter (Toy Story, A Bug’s Life), David Ellison & Dana Goldberg (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Top Gun: Maverick) and David Eisenmann are producing the Skydance Animation production. Luck is expected to premiere early next year on Apple TV+.
Debney’s recent projects also include Walt Becker’s Clifford the Big Red Dog and Disney+’s Home Sweet Home Alone, which both were just released last week. The composer also has Disney+’s Hocus Pocus 2, the Erwin Brothers’ American Underdog and Kat Coiro’s Marry Me. as well as new episodes of Hulu’s The Orville coming up.
