Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the psychological horror thriller Last Night in Soho co-written and directed by Edgar Wright and starring Thomasin McKenzie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Terence Stamp, Matt Smith, Diana Rigg, Michael Ajao, Rita Tushingham and Synnøve Karlsen. The film’s original score is composed by Steven Price (Gravity, Our Planet, Fury, Over the Moon, Suicide Squad, Baby Driver, The World’s End). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today (click here for the full album details), as well as a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie by artists including Dusty Springfield, The Who, The Walker Brothers, The Kinks, The Searchers & others last week (click here for more information).
Also opening wide is the supernatural horror thriller Antlers co-written and directed by Scott Cooper and starring Keri Russell, Jesse Plemons, Jeremy T. Thomas, Graham Greene, Scott Haze, Rory Cochrane and Amy Madigan. Javier Navarrete (Pan’s Labyrinth, Wrath of the Titans, Inkheart, Byzantium, Greta, Mirrors, Hemingway & Gellhorn) has composed the film’s original music. Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening nationwide is the Japanese animated feature My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission directed by Kenji Nagasaki and starring Daiki Yamashita, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Yuki Kaji, Yūichi Nakamura, Tetsu Inada, Ryo Yoshizawa, Yōko Honna, Megumi Hayashibara and Kazuya Nakai. The film’s original music is composed by Yuki Hayashi who previously scored the My Hero Academia TV series and the first two movies. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Summer when the film opened in Japan. Opening semi-wide in around 800 theaters is the drama A Mouthful of Air written and directed by Amy Koppelman based on her novel of the same title and starring Amanda Seyfried, Finn Wittrock, Jennifer Carpenter, Michael Gaston, Amy Irving and Paul Giamatti. John Gurtler (System Crasher) & Jan Miserre (Space Dogs, Kids Run, Fig Tree) have composed the film’s original score. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which centers on a bestselling children’s author whose books deal with unlocking childhood fears, is being released by Stage 6 Films/Sony Pictures.
Opening exclusively in select theaters today before coming out on VOD on November 19 is the sports drama Heart of Champions directed by Michael Mailer and starring Michael Shannon, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Alex MacNicoll, Ash Santos, Lily Krug and David James Elliott. The film’s original music is composed by Julian Scherle (Princess of the Row, Disrupted, Purity Falls). No soundtrack album has been announced yet. Also opening in select U.S. theaters today before arriving on VOD on November 19 is the thriller 13 Minutes co-written and directed by Lindsay Gossling and starring Amy Smart, Thora Birch, Trace Adkins, Peter Facinelli, Paz Vega, Anne Heche, Laura Spencer and Sophia Vassilieva. Ariel Marx (The Tale, Shiva Baby, Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer, To Dust, Rebel Hearts, The Devil Has a Name) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is in the works. The movie, which centers on four families in a Heartland town who are tested in a single day when a tornado hits, is being released by Quiver Distribution.
Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the crime thriller Snakehead written and directed by Evan Jackson Leong and starring Shuya Chang, Sung Kang, Jade Wu, Perry Yung, Catherine Jiang, Yacine Djoumbaye, Devon Diep, Richie Ng, Celia Au, Jamie Choi and Sandra Eloani. The film’s original music is composed by Roman Molino Dunn (aka Electropoint). Mirrortone has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today.
