Disney+ announced today that composer Wendy Wang and ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro have created and recorded a new version of the Doogie Howser, M.D. theme (written by Mike Post) for the upcoming Disney+ original series Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.. The streamer also released the opening titles sequence featuring the song, which can be checked out after the jump. Doogie Kamealoha, M.D is created by Kourtney Kang (How I Met Your Mother) and stars Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Kathleen Rose Perkins, Jason Scott Lee, Matthew Sato, Wes Tian, Emma Meisel, Mapuana Makia and Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman. The coming-of-age dramedy follows a 16-year-old prodigy juggling a budding medical career and life as a teenager who is determined to make the most of her teenage years and forge her own path. Kang is also executive producing the 20th Television production with Melvin Mar (Fresh Off the Boat, The Grinder), Jake Kasdan (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Bad Teacher), Dayna Bochco, Jesse Bochco (Murder in the First), Erin O’Malley (New Girl, Single Parents), Matt Kuhn and Justin McEwen. The series will premiere on September 8, 2021 exclusively on Disney+.
