Netflix has confirmed today that Yoko Kanno will be scoring Netflix’s upcoming live action adaptation of the anime series Cowboy Bebop. The show is developed by Andre Nemec (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) & Jeff Pinkner (Alias, Fringe) based on Hajime Yatate’s anime series and stars John Cho, Mustafa Shakir, Daniella Pineda, Alex Hassell and Elena Satine. The sci-fi drama follows a ragtag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they chase down the galaxy’s most dangerous criminals. Nemec, Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum & Scott Rosenberg (High Fidelity, Knightfall) are producing the project for Midnight Radio, alongside Marty Adelstein & Becky Clements (Snowpiercer, Hanna) for Tomorrow Studios, Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki & Shin Sasaki for Sunrise Inc, as well as Tetsu Fujimura and Matthew Weinberg. Kanno has previously scored all episodes of the 90s anime series, as well as 2001’s Cowboy Bebop: The Movie. Cowboy Bebop is set to premiere this fall on Netflix.
