Alex Lacamoire has composed the original score for the upcoming animated musical Vivo. He also serves as the executive music producer on the movie, which is directed by Kirk DeMicco (The Croods) and features the voices of Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ynairaly Simo, Zoe Saldana, Juan de Marcos, Brian Tyree Henry, Gloria Estefan, Nicole Byer, Michael Rooker, Leslie David Baker, Katie Lowes, Olivia Trujillo and Lidya Jewett. As previously announced, Miranda has written and is performing original songs for the film, which follows a one-of-kind kinkajou who spends his days playing music to the crowds in a lively Havana and makes a treacherous passage to Miami to fulfill his destiny. DeMicco also co-wrote the screenplay with Quiara Alegría Hudes. Brandon Jeffords (Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2) is project’s co-director and Lisa Stewart (Monsters vs. Aliens, Turbo), Michelle Wong & Rich Moore (Wreck-It-Ralph, Zootopia) are producing the Sony Pictures Animation production. Lacamoire has previously served as executive music producer on The Greatest Showman and this year’s In the Heights movie adaptation and has composed original music for the FX limited series Fosse/Verdon. Vivo was originally set to open in theaters nationwide this June by Sony Pictures and has just been picked up Netflix for a release later this year. (Deadline)
