Christopher Willis (The Death of Stalin, The Personal History of David Copperfield, Veep, The Lion Guard) is composing the underscore for the upcoming Apple TV+ original series Schmigadoon! The musical comedy is co-created by Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio (Despicable Me, The Secret Life of Pets) and stars Cecily Strong, Keegan-Michael Key, Alan Cumming, Kristin Chenoweth, Dove Cameron, Aaron Tveit, Ariana DeBose, Jaime Camil, Fred Armisen, Jane Krakowski and Ann Harada. The show follows a couple on a backpacking trip designed to reinvigorate their relationship when they discover a magical town in which everyone is living in a studio musical from the 1940s. As previously reported, Paul is also composing the original songs for the musical. Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black, The Addams Family) serves as the project’s lead director and is also executive producing the Broadway Video and Universal Television production with Paul, Andrew Singer (A.P. Bio, Miracle Workers) and Lorne Michaels (30 Rock, Saturday Night Live). Schmigadoon! will premiere this summer on Apple TV+.
Also coming up for Willis is the animated feature Lamya’s Poem. His other recent projects include Disney+’s animated shorts series The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, which will return for new episodes later this year.
