Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans (Ozark, Boy Erased, The Gift, Enemy, Martha Marcy May Marlene, The White Tiger, The Devil All the Time) have composed the original score for the new HBO original documentary Tina. The film is directed by Dan Lindsay & T.J. Martin (Undefeated) and centers on the life and career of musical icon Tina Turner. The movie, which features interviews with the singer herself, Angela Bassett, Oprah Winfrey, journalist Kurt Loder, playwright Katori Hall, hr husband and former record executive Erwin Bach, among others, a charts her improbable rise to early fame, her personal and professional struggles throughout her life and her even more improbable resurgence as a global phenomenon in the 1980s. Simon Chinn (Searching for Sugar Man, Man on Wire), Jonathan Chinn (Whitney, Untouchable) and Diane Becker (Inventing Tomorrow, Belushi) are producing the Lightbox production. The composers have previously scored Lindsay’s & Martin’s last feature, LA 92. Tina is set to premiere on March 27, 2021 and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
Bensi & Jurriaans are also set to return to score the fourth and final season of Netflix’s Ozark. They also continue to score AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead, which will return for the second parts of its sixth season on April 11 and has already been renewed for a seventh season.
