H.E.R. has recorded an original song for the upcoming biographical drama Judas and the Black Messiah. The track, entitled Fight for You, is co-written by herself, Dernst ‘D’Mile’ Emile II & Tiara Thomas and will be featured in the movie directed by Shaka King and starring Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, Ashton Sanders and Martin Sheen. Jazz trombonist Craig Harris and Mark Isham (Crash, Once Upon a Time, Miracle, A River Runs Through It) have teamed up to compose the original score for the film, which tells the story of Chairman Fred Hampton who was 21 years old when he was assassinated by the FBI, who coerced a petty criminal named William O’Neal to help them silence him and the Black Panther Party. King also co-wrote the screenplay with Will Berson co-wrote the screenplay and is producing the MACRO Films, Participant and BRON Creative production with Ryan Coogler (Black Panther, Creed) & Charles D. King (Mudbound, Sorry to Bother You). Judas and the Black Messiah will be released on February 12, 2021 in theaters by Warner Bros. Pictures and will also premiere on HBO Max on the same day.
