Verve Records will release the official soundtrack album for the documentary Billie. The album features thirteen songs by the film’s subject Billie Holiday and her band, The Sonhouse All Stars performing her classic works including I Only Have Eyes For You, Strange Fruit, God Bless The Child and more. Billie is directed by James Erskine and tells the story of the singer who changed the face of American music, and the journalist who died trying to tell it. The movie features never-before-heard interviews by musical artists such as Charles Mingus, Tony Bennett, Sylvia Syms and Count Basie. The documentary premiered at last year’s Telluride Film Festival and is set to be released in theaters on November 13 by Greenwich Entertainment.
